Ms. Riya Megotia is a CA student and tutoring is her passion. According to her, teaching kids is the best therapy and she loves the fact her passion is her profession.
What was your area of interest during graduation? How did you go about developing knowledge in this area?
I finished my graduation from Calcutta University and am currently pursuing CA.
Would you call your style of teaching unique? How important do you think innovation is in education?
I believe my teaching style is unique. I don’t encourage mugging up. I always want to clarify the concepts and help my students gain a better understanding of the matter.
Since failure is a part & parcel of life yet not well handled, what is your advice for young adults on facing failure and criticism and building themselves from scratch?
Starting from scratch is difficult. We may fail but the journey definitely doesn’t end there. Sometimes it might so happen success comes late in life but hard work is always rewarded. I believe criticism should not demotivate an individual but rather one should take up it up as a challenge and emerge as a winner.
As an inspiration for students, what is the importance you place on pursuing one’s passion? How important is it for children to understand this and parents to encourage it?
Pursuing one’s passion is important. It is important that one loves what he/she is doing since that person has to spend the rest of his/her life pursuing that career.
With the advent of technology, the increasing use of social media and gadgets is a serious issue with students these days. Do you view this as a problem? If yes, how can teachers/parents mitigate this?
Technology has found its way to reach even a newborn baby! I don’t think technology is detrimental to one’s education, but excessive use of anything is harmful. The responsibility lies with the teachers and parents to guide the child and teach them the proper use of technology.
What would be your message to a student who is yet to decide his/her career?
Choosing a career is difficult. For those who are on the verge of deciding their career, I would say, instead of looking at what other people are doing, concentrate on your own strength and passion. Each one of us is born with a unique quality. Search for that and you will find your true calling!
How did you come across Pedagoge? What is your take on the services Pedagoge offers?
